What is the Elite Skills Academy?

The Elite Skills Academy is an engaging, hands on workshop designed to build essential skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, and resilience. Delivered by experienced members of the Army Outreach Team, students take part in dynamic challenges that mirror real life scenarios and help develop key mental and physical attributes.

Every activity encourages young people to think clearly under pressure, work collaboratively, and step outside their comfort zone. It’s a memorable learning experience that enhances personal development while offering an authentic insight into Army training and careers.

How does it work and who is it for?

The workshop is suitable for students aged 14–18, making it ideal for Year 9 (aged 14+), Year 10, Year 11, and post‑16 groups.
Each Elite Skills Activity is available for groups of 20–40 students.
Schools can rotate multiple groups throughout the day.
Sessions typically run for 1–2 hours, depending on your timetable.
The format works well for careers days, drop‑down days, and whole‑year group enrichment.

Alongside the hands on workshop, every booking includes a mandatory Careers Presentation delivered by the Army Outreach Team and Army Careers Office.

This presentation is aimed at students in Year 9 and above (Year 9 students must be aged 14+) and is designed to raise awareness of Army opportunities while supporting personal development.

Presentation Objectives

Information – Provide clear, accessible details on the wide range of Army career opportunities.
Insight – Help students understand Army ethos and values through engagement with serving personnel.
Personal Development – Strengthen key skills such as teamwork, communication, and self confidence.
Inspire – Encourage students to broaden their aspirations and consider new pathways, including Army careers.

This presentation helps contextualise the Elite Skills Academy experience, linking the activities to real roles, training pathways, and future progression.

Have used the army for the Elite Skills a couple of times and the sessions are really engaging. They are very helpful and professional and we really enjoy having them in our school and running the session for our students, who really enjoy it and it makes them think differently and work with students they wouldn't necessarily work with
