Explore Army Roles
Something for everyone - The Army has many different careers available as both a Soldier or Officer.
A career with us offers you challenge and adventure that you simply can't find in any other job.
Join as a full time Soldier
When you join as a Regular Soldier, you'll live and work on military bases, either in the UK or overseas - but that doesn't mean you have to give up your old life. Unless you're away on operations or training on exercise you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll get 38 days’ leave a year, which is more than most civilian jobs.
Your everyday life will depend on the role you choose. You will spend your time learning your trade - this could be anything from mechanics to communications systems.
Join as a full time Officer
At the heart of everything we do are our Officers. Making split-second decisions in critical situations, often in demanding conditions. They command some of the best soldiers in the world, setting a benchmark for success and supporting their team to overcome any challenge.
They're always leading from the front, whether on the front line, on land, at sea or in the air, in a combat role, in a supporting role or working in a headquarters. There are a number of different Officer roles in the Army and each one plays a vital part in our success, at home and overseas.
It's not the weaponry or the vehicles – it's the people.
