Time requirement: 45–60 minutes

Most people will feel stressed at some point in their lives. Some low level stress can even be helpful or motivating. However, severe or ongoing stress symptoms can affect your body, thoughts and feelings. If left unchecked, stress can contribute to health problems such as high blood pressure, poor sleep and erratic moods.

In this lesson, students will learn to identify common signs of stress, understand the biological effects of stress and evaluate ways to regulate our reactions, including key techniques used by the Army in Mental Resilience training.

The Coping with Stress lesson supports the PSHE / Health and Wellbeing / RSE curriculum learning. It can be used independently, or with other BASE mental wellbeing lessons to build and strengthen learning.
