Age: 11–16

Time required: assembly / form time session 15–20 minutes, lesson 45–60 minutes

Whether it's a part of school life or beyond, everybody worries about failure in various aspects of life – but we can all make plans to 'fail well'.

In this assembly and lesson resource students will recognise that, while a fear of failure is natural, we can all develop strategies to deal positively with setbacks – exploring practical tools to build a growth mindset and the 'courage to try'. Both resources including a case study video with real-world examples of managing a fear of failure from Army musicians.

The Courage to Fail resources meet PSHE / RSE and Health and Wellbeing curriculum links as well as supporting Character Education. Both resources are easily adaptable, with the assembly presentation including options to run it as an active form time session.
