6 Rifles are the only Infantry Reserve Unit in the Southwest and it is our principal mission is to train and prepare our soldiers for front line operations, we routinely support Regular units in places like Cyprus, Iraq, Mali and other current operations. We continually train in our individual and team skills, so we can operate with the Regular Army in whatever the future challenges are. Our training activities are very much focused on developing the skills that people will need, and they are varied, physically and mentally stimulating, well organised and enjoyable! We regularly train overseas and participate in many sporting and adventure training activities.

The Royal Wessex Yeomanry is the only Army Reserve Unit to operate the Challenge 2, the British Army's Main Battle Tank. Our role is to provide fully trained Crews in support of the Regular Armoured Regiments for Training, Exercises and on Operations around the world.
