The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) plays a key role in all activities involving Military Working Animals (MWAs). They support the field army by providing skilled Military Working Dogs (MWDs) and is deeply involved in getting, training, and caring for these dogs across Defence.

They also help by providing and training Military Working Horses and assisting with their ceremonial duties. The RAVC’s expertise in handling and training different types of MWDs and MWA is crucial for Defence. Veterinary Officers and Vet Technicians/nurses lead soldiers, manage dogs and equipment, and ensure the health and welfare of of all the MWAs.
